Mac Merv’s Pub helps the needy
The owners of Mac Merv's Pub held a fundraiser to help the Was Foundation with their new home.
In the spirit of giving, the patrons, staff and supporters of Mac Merv’s Pub in Krugersdorp opened their hearts to the We’re Against Starvation (Was) Foundation.
In December, the pub organised a fundraiser to collect clothes, food and money for the Was Foundation’s new Rainbow Haven Home.

The Foundation opened this new home late in 2018 when they realised there was a need to feed the hungry children and residents of Krugersdorp. They aim to provide the basic resources to those who go without life’s essentials.
Several artists performed during the fundraiser, which included an arm wrestling competition, and there was a bouquet of flowers, sponsored by Goldwagen, that was auctioned off.
They raised R3 200, and received another donation of £200, which, after it was converted, amounted to another R3 800. With the R7 000 they raised, they went and bought non-perishable foodstuffs for the shelter.

Anne-marie van der Merwe from Mac Merv’s pub said they had more than 150 people who attended and they plan on hosting fundraisers like this again in the future.
They would like to thank everyone who contributed to this day and made it such a success.
