The owner of a farm in Hekpoort spent a weekend behind bars after a number of Eskom poles were found on her property on 25 January.
According to Eskom personnel and their security, they visited the farm on Friday, 25 January, and found ten poles, each two metres long, with plates from existing power lines attached to them.
The Eskom employees identified the poles as Eskom property. The owner of the farm claimed that she had no idea how the poles got onto her farm or who had brought them there.

She was then arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.
On Saturday, 26 January, the person who stole the poles came to the Hekpoort Police Station to hand himself over and on Monday, 28 January, the woman was released by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
According to Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson for the Hekpoort Police, the station commander, Captain DL Teffo, is pleading with community members not to allow people to store goods in their yards because they could find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
