On Valentine’s Day, while others were celebrating love, the Tarlton Police were hard at work.
According to Constable Lucky Matome, they arrested a 41-year-old man for hijacking a Volvo truck on the N14 in Tarlton.
The truck was allegedly travelling on the N14 when a silver BMW sedan overtook it and made a sudden stop in front of it.

Four armed men got out and approached the truck and hijacked it. The driver managed to signal a passing police car and a chase ensued.
The truck was cornered at the N14 Brandvlei turn-off and according to reports the men then took off on foot and a shootout between the police and the suspects ensued.
The arrested man is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
Since the remaining three suspects are still at large, the Tarlton Police are urging anyone with information that might lead to their arrest to contact the West Rand Trio Task Team on 071 675 7140 or alternatively the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111.
“Informants can remain anonymous,” said Matome.
He added that they want to warn the community not to try and apprehend these suspects as they are armed and very dangerous.
“Furthermore, truck drivers are urged to always be vigilant and alert and to not stop in remote areas when they see unmarked vehicles with blue lights. Drivers should rather drive to the nearest police station or filling station for their own safety,” Matome explained.
He went on to say that the acting station commander of the Tarlton Police, Captain LS Nkhumane, is concerned about an allegedly on-going spate of crimes in which bogus cops are using unmarked vehicles with blue police lights to commit criminal activities within the Tarlton policing precinct.
