A 39-year-old man was entrusted with repairing a bakkie, but more than one year later, he was arrested for stealing it!
The Kagiso Police arrested the mechanic in Extension 12 on Monday, 25 January at 10am.
According to the customer, he took the Nissan bakkie to the mechanic on 26 December 2017 for repairs and supplied the parts needed to get it back on the road.
Eight months later, on 3 August 2018, he received a phone call from the mechanic, who informed him that his vehicle had been repossessed by the bank.

The man went to the bank to enquire why his vehicle had been repossessed, but the bank told him they had not taken it as alleged.
When he confronted the mechanic about the lie, the mechanic stood by his story and insisted that the vehicle had been repossessed.
But when the customer reported the matter to the police, the mechanic fled.
However, the police recently received information about where the suspect was hiding, and that led to his successful arrest.
He will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon, on charges of theft of a motor vehicle.
