When a recent getaway attempt went very wrong, the Kagiso Police were able to arrest a 32-year-old man in connection with a house robbery.
The man was allegedly one of five who broke into a house in Azaadville and was arrested in Kagiso Extension 14.
A woman told the police she was home at 7pm on Monday, 25 February when she went to open the door for her assistant. While she was busy, she heard a doorbell ring and went to open the other door. She was confronted by a man who pointed a firearm at her and entered the house.

The man held the woman while another man searched her, and three more assailants went into the main bedroom where they took an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone before fleeing the scene.
The Trio Task Team received a call about the house robbery at 7.30pm and were told that the five suspects had fled in the direction of Kagiso.
“Our team immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects. They spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ car next to the road heading towards Swaneville,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.
The driver of the getaway vehicle had lost control and crashed.
One of the men was injured and was found lying a few metres away from the vehicle. He was subsequently rushed to hospital. A bunch of keys, a quantity of cash and two cellphones, believed to be linked to the robbery, were found in the man’s possession.
The man is in the hospital under a strong police guard, but the other four suspects are still at large.
