Shavethon

Silverstar is hosting a family-friendly Cansa Shavathon.

8–9 MARCH — The West Rand’s favourite entertainment destination, Silverstar is hosting a family-friendly Cansa Shavathon from 10am until 7pm on Friday 8 March, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, 9 March, giving all visitors the opportunity to support cancer patients by spraying or shaving their heads. The event will be hosted on The Square – a great opportunity to ‘spray silver’ at Silverstar! A nominal donation of R50 per adult and R25 per child under 12 is all you need to show your support. Steampunk Festival

9 MARCH — Joburg’s First Wild West Steampunk Festival will take place at La Vue Guest Lodge in Muldersdrift. Kicking off 2019 with a rootin’ tootin’ good time, you’re invited to live without limits. It doesn’t get any wilder than this. Whether you’re a gun-slinging bandit, a steampunk saloon girl or a bronc-ridin’ cowboy, shake it up and git yerself a ticket to this brand-new experience from the Alter Egos stable! Tickets start from R70 and are available at the gate or on Quicket.

Hike the Koppies

Join a three-koppie group hike of three hours/ 8km through the Melville Koppies.

10 MARCH — Join a three-koppie group hike of three hours/ 8km through the Melville Koppies. The tour sets off at 8.30am sharp. Park in the upper parking area at Marks Park on Judith Road, Emmarentia and then walk across to the entrance. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. Sorry, no dogs allowed. Costs are R60 for adults and R40 for children – all donations are used to maintain the Koppies.
