Man arrested for possession of ammunition and possible drugs

Police received a tip to investigate a man supposedly in possession of drugs and found multiple kinds of unlicensed ammunition.

A 47-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of unlicensed ammunition on Thursday, 7 March.

Police officers were conducting patrols in Krugersdorp when they received information from community members that led them to investigate a man allegedly involved in drugs in Bolton Street, Burgershoop.

During a search of the premises, police found five .38 Special ammunition rounds, two Soft-Point bullet rounds and one syringe containing an as of yet unidentified substance suspected to be a drug. The man could not present a licence for the possession of a firearm or ammunition.

He was arrested and detained at the Krugersdorp Police cells free from injuries, and is expected to appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
