Woman caught for stealing from company coffers

The owner of a well-known engineering company in Chamdor noticed a substantial amount of money had been stolen from the company. An internal investigation led them to the thief.

A bookkeeper was arrested in Kagiso on Thursday, 7 March after it was discovered that she had been defrauding her employers for three years.

The police went to arrest the 44-year-old woman at 7.30am on Thursday morning, following an internal investigation by her company.

The owner of the company told police the woman had worked for them from February 2015 to February 2018.

Last year, the owner realised that a substantial amount of money was missing from the company’s books and started with the internal investigation.

They found the woman had been transferring company money into her own account over the past few years.

Following the investigation, the owner informed the Kagiso Police and laid a claim of fraud against the woman.

The police followed up on the information which led to her arrest.
