The occupants of a house on Tom Muller Street in the Makhulugama informal settlement are lucky to be alive after they were robbed in the early hours of the morning.
At about 1.46am on Tuesday morning 12 March, three men wearing balaclavas and armed with firearms forced their way into the house in which about 15 people were sleeping.
They ransacked it and randomly fired shots, wounding two women. The attackers then assaulted a 45-year-old woman and fled the scene on foot.
They escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and two cellphones.
All the victims were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The suspects are still at large and the investigation will continue,” said Captain Raymond Sebonyane, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson.
He added that the station commander is appealing to the community to be alert. He also urged the community to form community structures and to work hand in hand with the police to fight crime.
