Hike the Koppies

Join a guided group tour of up to 4km or three hours through Melville Koppies central.

17 MARCH — Join a guided group tour of up to 4km or three hours through Melville Koppies central. The tour sets off at 8.30am sharp. Park in the upper parking area at Marks Park on Judith Road, Emmarentia and then walk across to the entrance. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. Sorry, no dogs allowed. Costs are R60 for adults and R40 for children – all donations are used to maintain the Koppies. Lunch with University of the Third Age

20 MARCH — Members of the U3A West Rand will visit the Little Miss Muffin Restaurant in Poortview just off Doreen Road for a delicious lunch. Autumn Orchid Show

23 and 24 MARCH — The Witwatersrand Orchid Society is hosting its Autumn Show from 9am in the Floreum at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. Use the north parking – near the dam wall – on Olifants Road in Emmarentia. Entry costs R20 for adults and R5 for children. Pensioners enter for free on both days. There will be talks and demos twice each day, with stunning orchids to admire and loads of orchids to buy. For more information, visit www.witsorchid.co.za.

Joburg Comedy Invasion

Joburg comedy descends on Silverstar.

29 MARCH — Krugersdorp is in for a treat as the very best of Joburg comedy descends on Silverstar for a celebration of all things funny in The Joburg Comedy Invasion, featuring Joey Rasdien, Chris Forrest and Ebenhaezer Dibakwane. This one-night-only performance takes place at 8pm. Tickets cost R150 per person and are available at Computicket. The show is rated PG16.
