Child safety during school holidays
Roodepoort's station commander advised that parents should instill these tips in their children to avoid trouble.
Teaching children about their safety is fundamental as we live in a rough community.
Roodepoort Police’s acting station commander, Colonel Happy Xaba, has released a statement containing a number of safety awareness tips for children to ensure their safety comes first during these school holidays.
Xaba has advised that parents should instill these tips in their children to avoid trouble:
• Children should avoid getting into a car with someone they do not know.
• Children should not accept gifts from a person they do not know.
• Children should never open the door to people they do not know.
• Children should tell an adult where they are going and when they will return.
• A child’s body is private and the child has a right to say “No”.
