“You can run, but you can’t hide from the long arm of the law,” warned the Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna.
The statement came after the Kagiso Police apprehended five murder suspects from two different cases, one of which is from 2016.

A statement sent out by Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, said the Kagiso detectives conducted an intelligence-driven operation on 5 April.
During this operation, they were tracing criminals wanted for serious crimes.
“At about 4am, they pounced on four suspects wanted for the murder of a Soul City man on 3 November 2018,” Sibiya said.
He explained that the sector police had received a call about a murder at about 2am on 3 November 2018.
“They proceeded to the scene at Soul City where they found the deceased lying on his back with a gunshot wound to his chest,” said Sibiya.
A witness informed the police of an unknown man who had shot the victim and fled the scene on foot. He further alleged that the deceased tried to run to his neighbour for help but fell to the ground before reaching the gate.
“Through a healthy working relationship with members of the community, the police managed to follow up on the information they had received, and that led to the arrest of the suspects,” said Sibiya.
The four suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police Station before appearing in court.
The same intelligence-driven operation ensured the arrest of yet another murder suspect from Soul City.
The 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with a murder that happened almost three years ago.
Sibiya said in a statement that on 16 December 2016, they had received a call about a murder. At the scene they found a relative of the deceased, who showed them where the body was. They found the deceased lying on the floor, covered in blood.
The deceased’s aunt informed the police that her nephew had been attacked and stabbed in the neck by a person they knew while on his way to Soul City.
The attacker fled the scene and had been on the run ever since.
A tip-off led to the arrest of the suspect.
