Man hacked and stoned to death by mob

When the Kagiso police arrived on scene, they found a man lying in a pool of blood with a crowd of people surrounding him. According to a statement from the Kagiso Police, a man lost his life in a violent attack on 10 April.

The man was allegedly hacked and stoned to death by an angry group at 2.45am.

“Our sector members received a complaint of assault by a group of unknown people in Lion’s Head Street, Kagiso Extension 12, at 3am,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.

When the police arrived at the address, they found a group of people surrounding a man who was lying on the ground.

The man was covered in blood and the police immediately called the paramedics. Shortly after the paramedics arrived, they pronounced the man dead on the scene.

A resident who lives nearby allegedly told the police that he was asleep when he was woken by the angry crowd outside.

“No one would take responsibility for the incident and the Kagiso Police opened a case docket of murder,” said Sibiya.

He said the police are appealing to the community to please assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of anyone involved in the murder.
