Well-dressed robbers hit home in Muldersdrift

Four people identified themselves as employees of the Department of Environmental Affairs and once they had access to the property they robbed the Muldersdrift man and his employees.

An 80-year-old Muldersdrift man was injured when he and his employees were the victims of a robbery recently.

According to a statement by the Muldersdrift Police, the man and his employees were at his house at about 10.45am on Tuesday, 9 April when a white Toyota Prado without a registration number stopped at the residence in Lammermoor.

One of the employees opened the gate and four well-dressed people – two men and two women – exited the vehicle. The group identified themselves as Department of Environmental Affairs employees.

They asked the man if they could use his bathroom but then the two women overpowered two domestic workers and forced the man and his employees inside the house at gunpoint. During this altercation the 80-year-old man sustained minor injuries.

The robbers took cellphones and jewellery, and on the second floor of the house they forced open the man’s gun safe. They made off with a rifle, 200 rounds of .22 ammunition and electronic appliances. The four robbers are still at large.

The Muldersdrift Police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare requested the community to please assist them with any information that could lead to the arrest of these robbers, and not try to apprehend the suspects themselves as they are armed and dangerous.
