Sector 4 starts its own community watch

"The response of the community to establishing the NWM was overwhelming and it was a 100 per cent 'yes', with no exception."

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) of Sector 4 in Krugersdorp held a special general meeting to discuss the registration of the Community Watch and the non-profit organisation (NPO) on Tuesday 9 April.

The CPF together with the communities of Noordheuwel, Monument and Wentworth Park agreed to establishing the Noordheuwel Wentworth Park Monument (NWM) Community Watch, with the aim of generating their own revenue and eradicate crime.

Charles Butler, chairperson of the CPF explained that the community has been very positive about the initiative and they are willing to support it.

“The response of the community to establishing the NWM was overwhelming and it was a 100 per cent ‘yes’, with no exception,” said Butler.

He also explained that they agreed to open a bank account for the NPO where all the NPO’s revenue will be kept safe.

“The reason for opening the NPO and bank account is that the community’s money contributed to the CPF will be managed by the NPO and Executive Committee. No one will be able to access the money without the approval of the NPO’s directors. We will, however, fall under the CPF and the organisation will run concurrent with the CPF,” Butler said.
