Justice was served when a man received a prison sentence for a murder and robbery case from 2018.

A 37-year prison sentence was recently handed down to the 31-year-old Lucky Mososomele, who pleaded guilty to house robbery and murder in the Johannesburg South High Court on 16 April, said a statement from the Muldersdrift Police.

On Wednesday, 5 September 2018, a 52-year-old domestic worker was found dead in a bathroom by her employer. According to the statement, the woman had sustained blunt force trauma to her upper body.

“The accused was spotted on the footage by former Sergeant Manana as he had previously arrested him,” said Constable Slindile Ntuli, spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Police.

She added that the Detective Branch commander, Captain Baloyi and Manana proceeded to the accused’s house, where he admitted to the house robbery and murder and was arrested.

The statement said the woman’s children were present during the court proceedings, and are happy that justice was served.

The Muldersdrift station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, applauded Baloyi, Manana and investigating officer Constable Bambiso for their excellent detective skills and tireless work on the case.

“Their hard work has provided justice to the family of the deceased and enhanced the image of the Police Service,” said Setlhare.
