She told police that an armed unknown man appeared in a passage near where she stopped. He fired a shot at her that went through the passenger window.

The man then fired a shot in the air before opening the driver’s door and grabbing the woman’s handbag, three cellphones and car keys before fleeing the scene.

The woman was shot in the back during the incident and was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

“I want to appeal to every resident of Kagiso to refrain from going out or driving very late at night, especially women, as that puts their lives in extreme danger. Parking on the street in the middle of the night can be very dangerous to anyone,” warned the Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna.

“We appeal to anyone with information about the perpetrator to call the Kagiso Police,” said Sibiya.
