Police raid in Kagiso leads to multiple arrests

Police also rearrested two of the three men who had escaped custody earlier in the week.

The Kagiso Police have released a statement saying their members conducted various operations that included the raiding of shebeens, and stop-and-search activities, at Leratong Village, Tshepisong West and Swaneville.

The operation started at about 8pm.

Two 18-year-old undocumented persons were arrested in Leratong Village. Two other suspects, aged 29 and 30, were arrested in central Kagiso, one for possession of dagga and the other for possession of house-breaking equipment.

Police also rearrested two of the three men who escaped custody earlier in the week, in Tshepisong West.

“Our area is experiencing a number of street robberies at night where perpetrators use knives or firearms. Such operations are going to be the order of the day,” warned the Kagiso Police head, Brigadier Themba Maduna.
