The Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, recently released a statement saying the Kagiso Police have opened two cases, one of attempted murder and the other an inquest.
This comes after a suspect was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head at a scene next to the Soul City informal settlement.
“On 26 April at about 8pm, we received a complaint of a shooting at Soul City next to Tudor Road,” said Sibiya.
He continued, saying that when the officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of an unknown man lying next to the road. The man had been shot in his upper body.

“Security guards who were on the scene informed the police that the deceased and his three armed accomplices ambushed and robbed people who were on their way to and from work,” he explained.
According to the guards, they tried to intervene and stop the robbers, but the men started firing shots at them and a exchange of fire ensued.
“A few minutes later, three of the accomplices fled into the nearby bushes and the victim was found lying dead on the scene. A firearm with an empty magazine was found next to the deceased’s body,” said Sibiya.
The Kagiso Police are searching for the three armed accomplices and are appealing to members of the public to come forward with information that can assist and lead to the successful arrest of the suspects.
