Sting operations stop criminals in their tracks

A recent operation by Kagiso Police and other stakeholders stopped criminals in their tracks.

On Friday, 3 May, the Kagiso Police, along with the provincial K9 unit and street patrollers embarked on a mission to stop crime.

According to a statement from Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, they surprised the residents of Kagiso on Friday morning when they took control of the streets to ensure the law was obeyed in an operation called Operation Okae Malao.

They arrested a number of suspects during the day for among others possession of and dealing in drugs like dagga, various tablets and nyaope. People dealing in liquor without a licence were also arrested.

“These people were not overlooked as illegal liquor sales contribute to contact crimes in the area,” said Sibiya.

They also stopped at the Madala Hostel, where they nabbed more people for drug dealing.
