Fun while learning how to fight fire

The Sector 4 CPF recently underwent fire training, ahead of the dry winter.

Kudu Park was one wet, muddy mess on Friday, 10 May, after the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) had held its fire training exercise.

At 7pm, members of the Sector 4 CPF gathered in Kudu Park followed shortly after by one of the Krugersdorp Fire Department’s fire trucks.

Members were taught how to hook up the hoses, how to brace each other when using the hoses and how to put the equipment away in the correct manner.

They were also informed of the different size hoses and their uses as well as how to link two smaller hoses to one main line.

Afterwards, the members also learned how to refill a fire truck at a fire hydrant.

CPF sectors in Krugersdorp have recently been acquiring their own ‘fire fighter’ which is a water tank on an open bed trailer with a fire hose and motorised pump.

As the News previously reported, the CPF is sometimes the first responder at a house or veld fire. This is only because they are sometimes closer.

Knowing how to handle the fire will come in handy, especially during the winter months.
