Take a spiritual stand and pray for the community

Join the prayer walk on 1 June, when the community will be praying for the town.

“People are losing hope, but we want to tell them there is no reason to feel that way. There are many people who still care,” said Daniel Prinsloo, the pastor for the Upside Down Church in Silverfields.

The Upside Down Church invites the community and all denominations to join them on a prayer walk on 1 June, which according to Daniel will be a public proclamation of hope.

“We want to unify all churches and communities in the area to pray together. The plan is to start in Silverfields and then host similar prayer walks in different parts of the community.

“Kenmare and Silverfields have seen an increase in the number of incidents of violent crime, and things were beginning to look dire,” explained Daniel.

He went on to say that the community then started gathering on a Saturday morning to walk through the streets of Silverfields and Kenmare while praying for the area. After a time, the crime statistics actually started dropping.

“We want to spiritually take our community back,” he proclaimed.

Everyone will be meeting at 9am at Silverfields Primary on the Saturday morning. There will also be a prayer area for those who cannot walk the whole way.

They will be stopping at certain points and praying about crime, domestic abuse, addiction, schools, churches, families, and local businesses, among other things.
