Robberies on the rise in Hekpoort – police linking suspects to various crimes

The Hekpoort police are urging community members to call them if they see anything suspicious.

In a statement from Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson for the Hekpoort Police, they are appealing to the community for assistance with information.

She said they arrested a 20-year-old man for a burglary that occurred on Wednesday, 22 May between 1pm and 5pm. The man was allegedly in possession of the stolen items.

The suspect could also be linked to other break-ins in the area, according to the spokesperson.

She explained that there had been more house break-ins and robberies reported during May.

“Police are appealing to community members to report suspicious behaviour in their area. They must also report suspicious vehicles, persons or any abandoned items in the bushes or in the area,” she pleaded.
