A brave response officer was seriously wounded while responding to a call during the early hours of last night, 12 June.
The News spoke to Johan Krog, EPR general manager, who said that officer Christo Meyburgh responded to a call in Mill Street, Boltonia at 8.44pm.
After checking the property and returning to his vehicle, he was confronted by three armed persons, believed to be illegal miners (zama-zamas).

The three perpetrators shot at Meyburgh, hitting him in the leg and pelvis. He tried to take cover, but the wound in his leg prevented him from getting very far.
The suspects then approached him and took his firearm. He then radioed for help.
Meyburgh is currently in the ICU in a stable condition. It is however, believed that some of the rounds have damaged his pelvis.
According to Krog, doctors will decide this morning what the next step in Meyburgh’s recovery will be.
“We are keeping him in our prayers and wish him a speedy recovery,” said Krog.
