Group walks in prayer and hope for Krugersdorp
The Upside Down Church and community members came together to pray for those on the street this winter, and wanted to show that there is hope for everyone in this town.
A group of concerned members of the Krugersdorp community and the Upside Down Church decided to band together on Saturday, 1 June, to take to the streets and pray for those in need.
They gathered in the cold, early morning hours at Silverfields Primary School where the very first thing on the to-do list was to set up a coffee table outside the school next to the road. Here any passer-by could stop for a moment and have a fresh, free, hot cup of coffee.
When the congregation had gathered, they set off into the streets of Silverfields and Kenmare. They went only a few metres before they stopped, huddled together and held a group prayer for the town and those residents, wherever they may find themselves, who were under the immense pressure of difficult circumstances.
From there the group walked on, stopping by street beggars, homeless people and day labourers on the sidewalks, waiting for work. The group’s members placed their hands on these individuals, praying for their well-being, before continuing on.
“People are losing hope, but we want to tell them there is no reason to feel that way. There are many people who still care,” Pastor Daniel Prinsloo said.
