Fetus found in dustbin in Krugersdorp CBD

The fetus was found partially wrapped in a plastic bag.

Just after 3pm on Friday afternoon, 5 July, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a baby found in a dustbin on Von Brandis Street in Krugersdorp.

Reports from the scene indicate that a fetus of approximately 26-weeks was found by a member of the public in a concrete dustbin.

“Paramedics assessed the scene and found the fetus partially wrapped in a plastic bag. The patient was assessed and sadly showed no signs of life and tragically declared deceased at the scene,”  Shawn Herbst, media liaison of Netcare 911 said in statement.

Circumstances leading up to the fetus being dumped will be investigated by the relevant authorities who were on scene.
