Police catch man who robbed sangoma

The swift action of the police and a car chase led to the arrest of a man who helped to rob a local sangoma.

The Kagiso Police chased, cornered and caught a house robber after he and his group robbed a local sangoma.

In a statement sent out by Captain Solomon Sibiya, the spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, he said they had caught a 41-year-old suspect at Zulu Jump in Kagiso.

The man was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and other charges, following a house robbery that took place at Zulu Jump.

“The suspect was one of four that allegedly robbed a local sangoma of her two cellphones and a cash safe at her home in Zulu Jump,” explained Sibiya.

The four suspects allegedly fled the scene in a grey Jaguar but the Kagiso Police responded immediately and gave chase.

When the suspects realised they were cornered, they abandoned their getaway vehicle and fled on foot. But the 41-year-old man was not fast enough and was quickly caught by the Kagiso police.

“The vehicle being used by the suspects was reported stolen in Kliprivier in January 2018,” explained Sibiya.

All the stolen property from the sangoma’s house was also recovered.

“The acting Kagiso Police station commander, Colonel Booysen, applauded her members for their swift response and dedication,” said Sibiya.
