Suspects shoot at security officers in late night heist in M’drift

Security officers escaped when criminals started shooting at them last night.

Security officers from a prominent security company put their lives on the line last night when they responded to a call about a theft.

According to a statement from the Muldersdrift Police’s corporate communications officer, Constable Slindile Ntuli, two security personnel spotted a suspicious vehicle moving towards an MTN tower on Plot 40 at about 11pm on 18 July.

The security personnel informed their office and two vehicles were dispatched to the scene.

The statement said the suspects fired shots at the security vehicles and the security personnel jumped out of their vehicles. One of the security officers fell and injured his hand.

The suspects then fled in a Range Rover. The injured security officer was taken to hospital. The robbers getaway vehicle was recovered in Kagiso with two tower batteries inside.
