SA to Hollywood – on the road to stardom
Mushota travelled to America to perform at this arts festival early in July. For five days, hand-selected talent from across the globe attended ARTS to gain exposure, education and encouragement from top industry leaders.
During the recent Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) Summer Showcase, local theatre actor, Mushota Makungu, wowed the audience and judges with her acting prowess with a passionate rendition of the opening scene of Robert Zemeckis’ film, Forrest Gump.
She later also performed a cold read, re-enacted a television commercial and completed a dance routine.

At the event she was scouted by representatives of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, and was offered a scholarship to attend the prestigious school.
Mushota traveled to Orlando, Florida in America to perform at this arts festival early in July. For five days, hand-selected talent from across the globe attended ARTS to gain exposure, education and encouragement from top industry leaders.
Mushota said, “I’m grateful to God for this once in a lifetime opportunity. My ultimate dream is to help as many people as possible to reach their dreams. In the words of Booker T Washington: ‘Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others'”.

ARTS has helped many of their members to be cast in shows like Glee, NCIS, Two and a Half Men, The Avengers, and many more in the past.
Mushota hopes to follow this trend and make it big in showbiz some day soon.
