The woman told the police that the man became irritated, and wanted to pack his belongings and end their relationship. The man allegedly also wanted to pack a radio that belonged to the woman.
“When she tried to stop him, the man became angry and assaulted her,” said the statement.
He then continued to kick the woman in the stomach.
The woman was later taken to hospital, where she decided to lay a charge with the Kagiso Police after being discharged.
“The suspect was traced and eventually arrested at Sinqobile. He was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of assault was opened against him,” explained the statement.
The man appeared in court briefly, and was released on bail.
