A suspected house robber was shot dead during an attempted robbery in Kagiso on 18 August.
According to a statement from the Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, a man was asleep in his house in Chief Mogale when at about 2.10am he heard strange noises coming from the kitchen.
He awoke and peeped through the kitchen window where he saw two people standing next to his kitchen door. He immediately retreated to his bedroom to fetch his firearm.

When he returned to the kitchen he noticed that the burglar door had already been forced open. The people outside were by then already trying to open the door and he decided to fire shots in their direction.
Two of the people jumped over the wall and fled. The man then went to open the door and found the body of a third robber lying a few metres from the door.
“House-breaking implements and a toy gun were found next to the suspect’s dead body,” explained Sibiya.
He added that a firearm was also found on the deceased’s body and the man had multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
“Kagiso Police have opened an inquest and attempted robbery docket,” Sibiya said.
