Child airlifted from Robert Broom Drive accident

It was reported by eyewitnesses that a child was involved in a roadside accident. Watch a video of the helicopter on scene.

Preliminary reports have come in this morning of a pedestrian/ vehicle accident that occurred at about 8am. It was confirmed by Curro Krugersdorp that the incident ocurred near their Primary School and that a learner was involved. The learner was reportedly hit by a car on Robert Broom Drive near the Swanevelder/ Norden Road intersection, and was airlifted to a hospital.

A video depicting the helicopter taking off from a nearby field was also posted on Facebook soon after.

Annemarie Lombard, the Executive Head of Curro, has responded with the following statement:

“Dear Parents and Guardians, Curro Holdings is aware of an incident at Curro Krugersdorp this morning whereby a learner was involved in an accident outside the school. All measures have been taken to ensure that the learner was safely and immediately transferred to the nearest hospital. We are in contact with the family and will continue to provide the necessary support to the affected family. Learners who may have witnessed this will be offered counselling.
