Local Police award excellent service
"We are not alone in the fight against crime; the people don't want crime and they are ready to work with the police. But it is of course important to get trust from our community first."
Every day, the men and women in blue risk their lives to protect ours, and every year the Krugersdorp Police awards them for their selflessness.
The brave men and women gathered at the Makiti Wedding and Function venue on 14 August to celebrate with their colleagues.

After a prayer by Reverend Colonel Maluleke, the Krugersdorp Police station commander, Brigadier Ngwako Mashao spoke to the attendees.
“This will not be like other evenings, we are here to celebrate and honour greatness,” he said.

He went on to say that after the event, they must continue to build on the positive energy of the event to reach new heights in their station.
“We will be innovative and creative to ensure that Krugersdorp will be the best,” he continued.
He explained how the night had been dedicated to the celebration and recognition of service excellence and added, “My heartfelt congratulations to every winner, you deserve it. Your contribution and sacrifice have allowed others to bloom”.

He mentioned how quality policing is in demand and said, “Rightfully so”. Engaging with other relevant stakeholders will serve as an answer to reduce the challenges they face.
“Although some of us may be killed, that must not make us surrender. We need to keep waging the war against crime, to protect our citizens. The people do not demand so much from us as the police, the only thing they want is safety. It is our primary responsibility to ensure we do everything to protect the vulnerable. We are not alone in the fight against crime; the people don’t want crime and they are ready to work with the police. But it is of course important to get trust from our community first. We need the community to see through our actions that they can trust us,” said Mashao.
