A mother from Rietvallei came home to a house that had been burgled, but the saddest part is that it was her son who had caused the damage.
The woman’s kitchen cabinet, fridge and eight garden chairs were stolen during the break-in on 29 August.

“She was at work when she received a call from a neighbour who told her about a break-in at her home. She rushed home and found that the door lock had been broken,” according to a statement from Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.
He went on to explain that the neighbour had spotted her son entering the house and coming out carrying a kitchen cabinet some time later.
This was the second time she had spotted the boy and called his mother. On 23 August, the neighbour saw him and another friend carrying a fridge out of the house.
“The suspect is on the run after learning that his mum had opened a case against him at the Kagiso Police,” Sibiya said.
The Kagiso Police are investigating a case of residential burglary and theft.
