A local couple appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of child pornography on Monday, 2 September.

The wife was arrested on Tuesday, 27 August, while her husband was taken into custody the week before.
It is believed that the Hawks had been keeping an eye on the couple and others involved in this matter for some time before making the arrests.

The specific charges are not clear yet, but the wife has been granted bail.
She was granted bail of R8 500 on condition that she not leave the province. She is also not allowed to have contact with her biological children or her husband’s children and has to check into the Krugersdorp Police Station twice a week.
The husband was however not granted bail and will remain in custody.
The minor children in the couple’s home have allegedly already been placed with other family members.
The case had been postponed to October, pending further investigation.
