Police bust suspects with hundreds of boxes of toothpaste

Vigilant police members saw a suspicious truck and decided to take a closer look. What they found was hundreds of boxes of toothpaste, and a couple of dozen of Maizena.

The Muldersdrift police recently proved that being vigilant and visible yields good results.

After two people had been arrested for allegedly being in possession of stolen goods, police members saw something off and that led to a big find.

The saw a suspicious vehicle and informed detective Warrant Officer Westhuizen and detective Constable Mashaba.

The two detectives rushed to the scene and found a truck with two people inside. They asked the driver to open the back of the truck, not expecting to see what it contained.

The back was filled with 477 boxes of Aquafresh toothpaste and 45 boxes of Maizena. When asked for the invoice, the suspects could not produce it. They also could not explain where they were going with the load.

According to a statement provided by Constable Slindile Ntuli, the spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Police, the Muldersdrift station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare praised the members for their hard work and dedication.

The two suspects, who are respectively 34 and 57 years of age, were both charged with possession of stolen goods and will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
