Miss Kagiso Mami Makokoe making a difference

After being crowned Miss Kagiso in 2018, Mami Makokoe is set to take on Miss Gauteng Exclusive 2019, and knows she'll make it big in the end.

Mami Makokoe was made for the pageantry world, though she believed quite the opposite for most her life. Since a young age, modelling has been a passion for her, and she dreamt about being on the catwalk every day.

Early in 2018 she started off on her road to Miss Kagiso, which was her debut in the pageantry world after having only done a bit of modelling over the past few months. Even as a model she had to teach herself everything she knows today, as she started out without knowing anyone in the industry, or even knowing how to walk on the catwalk properly.

She was crowned Miss Kagiso Queen by the end of 2018, quickly setting her sights on bigger things. When entries for Miss Gauteng Exclusive 2019 opened up, Mami jumped at the opportunity.

“I’m in the Top 50 right now, and we started with more than 200 contestants,” she explained. The final round is next on the road for Mami, and now she has upped her community-help game.

Earlier in the year, she organised and hosted a Kagiso business seminar where many entrepreneurs taught the youth all about saving money for the future, investing wisely and starting your own business.

She has recently acquired a sponsor for ten tickets to the Miss Gauteng Exclusive and is currently looking for young girls to experience the event with her. She has also managed to make sure that their transport and food for the day will be covered.
