Vigilant detective catches would-be murderers

A man who shot and almost killed four people will be appearing in court soon after his previous court appearance led to his arrest.

A recent case in Muldersdrift has shown that not all criminals are particularly intelligent.

This after a very vigilant detective arrested a 21-year-old and a 27-year-old for attempted murder.

The crime happened on 8 September in Rietfontein, according to a statement from the Muldersdrift Police’s spokesperson, Constable Slindile Ntuli.

The statement explained that at about 11pm on the night in question, a 26-year-old person was accused of robbing one of the suspects of his cellphone. After an argument, the 27-year-old suspect pulled out a firearm and shot four people that were on the scene with them. One of the victims is still in hospital in a critical condition.

The vigilant detective Constable Mncedisi Bambiso was then assigned to investigate the case and after finding the suspect’s wallet at the scene of the crime, he circulated the suspect’s ID number.

He soon discovered that the suspect was expected to appear in an upcoming case before the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 8 October. Bambiso then went to court to wait for the suspect.

“As soon as the suspect appeared in court, he was arrested. They also arrested a 21-year-old suspect,” explained Ntuli in a statement.

When they continued with their investigation they found an unlicensed firearm in the suspect’s possession. The firearm is believed to have been used to shoot the four people.

“A big thank you goes to detective Constable Bambiso. I applaud your consistency, dedication and the time that you have put into this matter. May this be an example to all the criminals who think they are above the law,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, the station commander at the Muldersdrift Police Station.
