Four nabbed for recent liquor store robbery

The Muldersdrift Police's swift actions led to the arrest of four armed robbers recently.

“Muldersdrift police members have yet again proved that there’s no place for criminals.” These are the words of a statement from the Muldersdrift Police’s Constable Slindile Ntuli.

The statement comes after a bottle store in Rietfontein was robbed on Saturday, 19 October at about 5pm.

It went on to say that a 55-year-old man was working when five people armed with firearms entered the business while another person stood watch outside.

One of the robbers pointed a firearm at customers and the man. They then demanded that the victims hand over their cellphones. Next, they took various brands of alcohol, cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

“Police were immediately informed, and Constables Ndlela and Tlhale reacted very quickly. They found the suspects leaving the bottle store, and requested back-up from other members,” explained Ntuli’s statement.

The suspects then fled on foot, with the police gving chase. They managed to apprehend four of the suspects and even recovered one firearm that was used during the robbery, in one of the suspect’s possession.

“Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare applauded the members for their job well done,” Ntuli said in the statement.

The people who have been arrested will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
