CCCO reaching out to help everyone

Their model is teaching a hungry man to fish. CCCO's whole purpose is to get people to a point where they can start building their own future.

Cross Connect Community Outreach (CCCO) is rapidly expanding into every nook and cranny they can find.

Their goal is to help as many people and organisations on the West Rand as they possibly can.

About six years ago, Kyle Tolman stepped down as a minister at a local church, wanting to do more for people in need. He started working for an international organisation and he and his (now) wife went overseas. “Three years ago, sitting in America, busy with fundraising, I felt like God told me that I was so busy helping other communities, but what about our own community?” Kyle said. With new resolve, they moved back to South Africa and opened CCCO in Krugersdorp.

Today, the organisation works with 42 other organisations and businesses on projects, has 60 projects of their own going and is helping thousands of children and families.

“In the last two years, we have grown from 300 to 3 000 children. Next year, we want to grow to 10 000,” he explained.

They recently had to expand their offices to take on new personnel to help get to all of their projects. They also have hub offices in each area where they operate, where people from the community are brought in to run specific projects. The idea is that people from the community will be better equipped to help, and have a better understanding of what the community needs. They’re also hoping to grow into other cities in the coming years.

Their big struggle right now is getting enough donations. The quantity of food they deliver each month to families is quite large. In addition, “Money is a big need. People may forget we’re still a company, even if we don’t make a profit. We still have operating expenses. We still need to pay for electricity, internet access and office supplies”, said Kyle.

As CCCO grows, their needs increase, but they always seem to find a way to do more.
