Ideas for a school lunchbox

Here are a few lunchbox munchables you can make in advance.

Deciding what to put in your child’s lunch box is always difficult.

Not only do you have to choose something that is healthy, will stay fresh and is creative, it also has to be something your child eats, if he or she is a picky eater.

Here are a few lunchbox ideas that might help.

1. Mini pizzas

You can always buy those pre-made mini pizzas and just spruce them up with some cheese, bacon or even a few mushrooms. They are small enough to fit into a lunchbox, and easy enough to make.

2. Muffins

Go buy yourself a pack of the pre-made muffin mix. You can be extra healthy and go with the bran muffins or you can add some sweetness with a chocolate chip. Dried berries and other fruits also add some colour and flavour to your muffins. Bake twelve on a Sunday and just put one in for lunch every day. There will even be some left over for yourself.

3. Cookies

Just like the muffins, why not bake a batch of cookies. Make some healthy crunchy cookies and add them to your child’s lunchbox as a quick snack.

4. Fish fingers or chicken nuggets

Break time is usually play time for kids, so why not go with some bite-sized snacks that they can eat in between running around and playing. Chicken nuggets or fish fingers are great for this.

5. Sausage rolls

Sausage rolls or mini pies are also great for a lunchbox. These can be made in bulk and in advance and you get them in many different flavours that your child will love.
