West Rand police welcome new cadettes
Late last year the West Rand welcomed 68 new police members. These members will help keep the district safe and assist in the fight against crime.
In December, before the festive season kicked off officially, 190 newly qualified police officials were welcomed to the West Rand by District Commissioner, Major General Kekana.
Captain Raymond Sebonyane, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police said in a statement that the introduction of the young and energetic new members will be a great benefit to the West Rand residents and businesses.
Different units throughout the police district will receive a boost of additional manpower.

“The 21 Detectives and Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit members will also decrease the number of dockets carried by each police official and the quality of investigation of gender based violence will improve,” Sebonyane explained in his statement.
He went on to explain that the extra officers will also greatly assist in addressing the increasing service delivery protests and visibility.
“The district will have a fully functional company within the public order policing, with the addition of the 68 new members,” he said.
The statement said that the District Commissioner welcomed and thanked all the new recruits. He inducted them and reminded them of their oath of office.
Kekana placed great importance on adhering to human rights, the constitution and ethical conduct when he was discharging the police mandate.
In closing he added, “A few words of wisdom as you begin your career in policing – there are two types of employees: one who always does what other people tell them to, and two, those who always do what their hearts tell them to. No prizes for guessing which ones are more successful. Always remember that it wasn’t destiny that got you in the police. It was your courage and desire to make your own destiny that pushed you forward. Congratulations and welcome to the team that makes community safety a priority”.
