Curro’s first ever Matrics are up to the challenge

Curro Krugersdorp High School has only been open for four years now, and has grown from strength to strength every year. And now, they're introducing their very first Matric group.

Curro Krugersdorp High School has just welcomed their very first class of matrics since opening back in 2016.

The hall was abuzz when the newly mantled Grade 12’s took to the stage for the first time to receive their Matric Jackets.

Curro Krugersdorp usually has fairly small classes and only take in a few learners every year, making this a small and close-knit group of Matrics.

Head boy Simphiwe Makapela has been with the high school since the first Grade 8 group and has never doubted his choice.

“I visited the school with my parents and saw it was a very respectful school,” he said.

Head girl and hockey team captain Nomvula Chasakara said she wants to go all out this year and experience all of it during her final year.

First team hockey captain Keedan Dullisear has mixed feelings about this year. “I think it’s going to be fun, but it’s also nerve wracking. I just want to put the Curro name out there on the sports side.”

Taylor Kotze was picky about what school she wanted to attend when she moved all the way from the Western Cape. She tried out a bunch of schools until she happened upon Curro one day.

She visited the school and, “I just felt so welcome here. It was just the right place for me and I wanted to start my new chapter here”.

As one of the very first Matrics, she’s looking to push the school’s outreach program to new heights.

“Community service is the best thing anybody can ever learn. I want to help the other students reach out more to outside the school.”
