Police investigate reservist’s death in Krugersdorp North accident

The police reservist who died in the crash in Viljoen Street during the weekend was a member of the Tarlton Police team.

The Krugersdorp Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the death of a Tarlton Police reservist in an accident in Krugersdorp North just before midnight on Saturday, 18 January.

In a statement sent to the News by Captain Raymond Sebonyane, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police, he stated that they were investigating a case involving a collision between a police vehicle and a Ford Focus at the intersection of Viljoen and Third Streets at about 11.23pm on Saturday, 18 January.

“The two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided. Both drivers and the passenger of the Ford were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.”

The passenger in the police vehicle, a police reservist constable at the Tarlton Police, was declared dead on scene by the paramedics.

The Krugersdorp Police station commander, Brigadier Mashao expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues and friends of the deceased.

He also urged motorists to comply with traffic rules at all times.
