Woman caught with dagga and ammunition

An anonymous tip-off recently led police to the house of a local woman.

Police recently followed up on an anonymous tip-off and found dagga and ammunition at a woman’s house in Kagiso.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said in a statement that they received a tip-off from an anonymous caller. Their members went to the particular address in Extension 11 where they found a 35-year-old woman.

They searched the premises and found four packets of dagga and eight rounds of ammunition under a couch in the home. The woman was arrested and charged with possession of dagga and ammunition. She was scheduled to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 27 January.

“The Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 prohibits anyone dealing in drugs and possessing a firearm or ammunition without a licence. It is therefore a gross violation of the Act,” Sibiya said.
