Kagiso Methodist Church hosts senior induction ceremony

The colourful service attracted more than 2 000 congregants.

The Kagiso Methodist Church of Southern Africa hosted the Covenant and Induction service of seven senior church members of the Mogale Circuit.

The induction service, attended by 11 church Methodist societies, took place the weekend of 26 January at the Chief Mogale Community Hall in Kagiso.

The colourful service attracted more than 2 000 congregants, three ministers and four circuit stewards. Presiding over the induction of the seven senior church members was vice chairperson, Reverend Ndumiso Ncombo of the Central Synod.

The three ministers inducted were Superintendent Philisande Didiza, Raymond Keet and Phumzile Tafane. Circuit Stewards Phumla Mabilo, Thapelo Sehularo, Isaac Mokamane and Theresa Coetzee were also inducted.

In his address, Reverend Ncombo said the entire church and societies should rally behind Superintendent Didiza and his colleagues. He also applauded Superintendent Didiza in his appointment as the senior church member, and stated that all church members should be treated as equals.

“I’m very much pleased to be given this enormous task to induct our fellow church members into these positions, and we are looking forward to seeing them embracing peace and stability within the church and entire community of Mogale City,” Reverend Ncombo said.

“Most importantly, we want to applaud you [Superintendent Didiza] in your appointment and we want to see a different leader in you. We are now handing this servant of God to the church congregation, and we want to see peace, stability and harmony prevailing among the church members,” he added.

According to church spokesperson Phumla Mabilo, who was also inducted, the circuit stewards serve as the church managers while the ministers oversee the management and administration of their respective churches where they are based, as well as certain societies within the circuit. The Superintendent oversees the whole circuit on matters related to administration and management.

In his reply after his induction, Superintendent Didiza, surrounded by his family said, “I’m very pleased and humbled to be inducted to this gigantic position and tasks. However, as the Superintendent of the circuit I swear to God that I will serve the congregation with humility and will also be humble to the needs and demands of the entire circuit.”
