Bar fight murder accused’s rep asks presiding officer to recuse himself

The accused faces murder charges in the regional court, but it seems an issue with the presiding officer needs to be sorted out first.

The two men who were charged with the murder of a man following a bar fight last year, has appeared in court again.

A man passed away at his home after a fight broke out in the bar last October. Following a video of the fight that went viral, the two men were arrested and charged with murder.

The men appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on 6 February where their case was referred to the regional court. When they appeared in the Krugersdorp Regional Court on Thursday, 13 February, one of the accused’s representatives called on the presiding officer to recuse himself.

The case has been remanded to March.
