Over the past weekend the police in Gauteng arrested more than 1 278 people during different crime prevention operations in the province.
The West Rand police precincts added 198 of those suspects to the list.
They arrested 49 undocumented people and closed down five illegal liquor outlets during their crime prevention operations and raids of wanted suspects.

Other arrests included charges of rape, malicious damage to property, drunk driving, theft, possession of dagga, sexual assault, common robbery, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, violation of a court order, murder, stock theft, pointing of a firearm and house breaking and theft.
During one of the incidents two people were arrested for business robbery and hijacking. The suspects robbed a tuck shop in Kagiso and then hijacked a Toyota Hilux. They were later apprehended in Randfontein.
