Man airlifted after colliding with a tree

A man had to be airlifted after the vehicle he was driving collided with a tree.

A man had to be airlifted after his vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree.

In a statement sent by Netcare 911’s Media Liason officer, Shawn Herbst, he said their paramedics responded to the call at 8.15 am on Wednesday morning.

The call was for a collision on the R24 Rustenburg Road, in Krugersdorp.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a light delivery vehicle lost control resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and impacting a tree,” said the statement.

When medics assessed the driver they found he had been seriously injured and Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise him.

The air ambulance had to be called.

The statement also said, “Due to the nature of the patients injuries the Netcare 7 specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift him to hospital for further treatment”.
