New name, new projects for Esperança Foundation
You can help by donating a bag of love during the Esperança Foundation's 40 items in 40 days.
Why not de-clutter your house and help someone less fortunate at the same time?
Well, it is that time of the year again when Esperança (previously known as Hope for the Future) asks you to fill a black bag with 40 items within 40 days.
The idea is that you put one item into the bag every day, and at the end of the 40 days you can donate the bag to the organisation, which will then distribute the contents to those who need it.
The donations that are not given away will be added to the stock in their charity shop where it will be sold. The proceeds is then used to buy food and necessities for other needy people.
The 40 days started on Friday, 21 February already, but finishes on 1 April. Among the items that can be put into the bags are clothes (winter and summer), toys, blankets, baby accessories, stationery, adult nappies and non-perishable food.
They currently also have a R10 sale at their charity shop and welcomes any donations to help them help others and to keep their shop open. The rent for the shop is R4 500 a month and at the moment they have a sponsor to assist them with the rent for three months.
The organisation feeds 82 families every month and even puts out food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to feed the homeless living in the are around their charity shop.
The bags can be dropped off in Krugersdorp, Luipaardsvlei, Pretoria North and Westonaria.
